Happy Halloween! 🎃 It's time to lighten your candles and make some sweet punch. Even though I didn't dress up this year because of my crazy schedule, here's a photo from the photoshoot we did couple weeks ago in Ukraine, in Kiev Botanical garden. It's my favorite time of the year!

Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas by my all time favorite creator Tim Burton. Yes, it's a real life size Jack skeleton! Made and produced by the lovely model Judy Wudy​. Each time I'm just simply amazed by the craziness and passion for creation of ukrainian people! We had only about an hour to shoot before it got dark. So some spooky lights were used.

Всем счастливого Хэлоуина! Время зажигать свечи и варить сладкий пунш. И хотя в этом году я без костюма из-за моего сумасшедшего графика, вот вам фото, которое мы сделали пару недель назад в Киевском ботаническом саду. Это мое любимое время года!

Джек и Салли из мультика "Кошмары перед Рождеством" моего самого любимого сказочника Тима Бертона. И да, это настоящий скелет Джек в натуральную величину! Сделанный чудесной Джуди Вуди @judy_wudy_27. Каждый раз поражаюсь нереальностью и страстью к творчеству украинских людей. У нас было всего около часа на съемку.

New photos we did couple months ago in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. At first the idea was for Melanie to go to that green water but then we saw signs that it's actually can be harmful😲 Algae is a small plant-like organism which grows in pond water. And it can be toxic! So we decided not to risk and not touch it. I had to improvise:) Hope you like it!

My photography equipment

I've got tons of questions about my photo equipment so here's a short video showing it! Sorry it's a bit awkward, I'm shy and not experienced in talking on camera:)

But always remember that it's not camera and lenses who do the photos, it's the photographer! It really doesn't matter what equipment you use. One of my best images was made with old Nikon D80 and cheap Nikkor 50 1.8D. I just love the character and bokeh of vintage lenses that's why I use them. The secret of good photography is your experienced eye and good taste in art, some knowledge about composition, color and light. Don't be afraid to experiment and never blame your camera or lens!

New York state of mind

Do you like to travel? Do you go somewhere? If not, why so? I always loved traveling. Going somewhere new is one of the best feelings in the world. Yes traveling requires quite a budget. But you always can save some money. We're not rich. It's all about priorities. Don't smoke, don't buy takeout coffee, cook at home. Do you really need a new car/phone or expensive furniture? Because in the end all you have is your memories. I'm so thankful I have an opportunity to travel. Travel makes you a bigger person. It helps you open your mind and understand this life better. My first trip to US in 2008 completely changed my world outlook. Living in one place is like living in a bubble of things that surround you. I suggest you to go out of the bubble as soon as there's an opportunity. There always will be not enough money, not the best time or busy schedule. There always going to be something. The only thing there's really not enough is your life.

Еще когда училась и толком не было денег, старалась хоть куда-то съездить и поняла, что это одно из самых чудесных чувств в жизни - отправляться в новые места. Мы живем небогато. Да, путешествия дело недешевое, но всегда можно на чем-то сэкономить. Все дело в приоритетах. Откажитесь от сигарет, выносного кофе, частых походов в бар. Вам точно нужна новая машина в кредит и дорогая мебель? Ведь в конце все, что у вас останется - это воспоминания. Я благодарна судьбе, что у меня есть возможность путешествовать. В моменты, когда я думаю, что все плохо, я вспоминаю те места, где мы были, и уже кажется все не таким плохим. Путешествия обогащают духовно, культурно. Они заставляют тебя думать и лучше понимать эту жизнь. Я помню свою первую поездку в США в 2008, которая полностью перевернула мой взгляд на мир. Живя на одном месте, мы живем в пузыре своего окружения и того, что оно нам дает. Я советую вам выходить из этого пузыря, как только появляется возможность. Денег всегда мало, работа никогда не закончится, всегда будет не подходящее время и всегда вам будет что-то мешать. Единственное, чего на самом деле мало, это отведенной вам жизни.

Butterflies in my stomach - is an anxious and nervous feeling inside yourself (inside your stomach). This image is metaphor of dealing with stress, anxiety and releasing my inner bugs. I've had issues with dark thoughts and depression for the past couple of years and this image represents my attempt to reconsider my life and to be reborn into a new person.

When posting new work and now more Youtube videos I'm always insecure if they are good enough and how people will react.
